The Opportunity

We are seeking a customer-oriented and reliable Screenings Event Staff member (otherwise known as a “Screener”) who will provide support for our screenings team. This team ensures the success of our in person theatrical screening business, which is an important part of NRG’s history in pioneering the Hollywood research industry. Movie studios and other clients rely on our data-driven services as an industry standard for the business of making and selling movies that has stood the test of time and continues to fuel today’s global film business.  

 

The screener will provide on-site support for our screenings research events with recruited audiences in and around the Los Angeles area including Northridge, Sherman Oaks, San Bernardino County, Orange County, Long Beach and other districts. This role will support our in-person screening process from start to finish, from checking-in audience members to the distribution and collection of audience surveys.

Your Impact

  • Provide positive customer service to our clients and audience members for the entire screening event. 
  • Perform various assignments well at each screening, including but not limited to managing the invite collection, prepping the theater, checking people in, managing the line, passing out and collecting NDAs, directing clients and audience members to their seats, directing people to focus group tables when needed, handling demographic balancing and distributing and collecting surveys. 
  • Manage research operational administrative duties such as bundling surveys for post-screening distribution and collecting and organizing the audience surveys which are both paper and electronic.  
  • Assist with accurate counting and tabulating of audience members, theatre seats, audience surveys and more. 
  • Comfortable around computers, scanners and tablets, including setting them up, troubleshooting and packing up technology with care. 

Who We're Looking For

  • Experience We’d love for you to have 1+ years of relevant experience working in events or a customer facing role.  
  • Your degree(s)High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Passion An enthusiasm for motion pictures and the entertainment industry. You live and breathe all things entertainment and enjoy staying up to date on industry trends and developments. Small talking or deep diving on entertainment fuels you.  
  • Reliability and Punctuality We expect screeners to respond to a weekly survey gauging their availability to work screening events and we expect screeners to show up to various screening events they are assigned to on time. 
  • Customer Service Strong customer service skills with demonstrated ability to interact with large crowds in a courteous and professional manner and with minimal oversight. Event experience is beneficial. 
  • Problem Solving – Ability to remain calm and collected under pressure is crucial. You are able to address issues while staying positive and professional.  
  • Tools Computer skills including experience using Excel and Word is preferred. 
  • Communication Excellent verbal communication skills is required. You will be communicating with audience members and may need to answer questions that come up (such as questions regarding their seat, the bathroom location, troubleshooting technological issues with our tablets and more).  
  • Self-starter Internally-motivated who continuously strives to get things done well, regardless of challenges encountered. 
  • Expert multitasker Successfully manages time and multiple competing priorities 
  • Hawk-eyed attention to detail You are able to follow instructions well. You will read through and listen to our training materials with extra detail and will do all you can to ensure no errors get past you and nothing slips through the cracks. 
  • Proactivity – You anticipate what needs to get done and take the initiative to complete those tasks.  
  • Physical tasks You will need to stand on your feet to work events for at least 90 minutes at a time. You also might be asked to perform light physical activities including moving equipment (e.g. office supplies and technology weighing up to 60 pounds).  
  • Confidentiality – Must maintain screening information confidentially 
  • Transportation – Screenings are held in and around the Los Angeles area including Sherman Oaks, Northridge, San Bernadino County, Orange County, Long Beach and other areas. Reliable transportation to screening events will be needed.  
  • Travel – Some screenings may take place outside of California and require short-term travel (typically a few days). NRG covers all travel-related expenses including flights, lodging, and meals. While not required, the ability and willingness to travel when needed is a strong plus. 
  • Dress Code Team members will be expected to follow a business casual dress code. 
  • Great Team Member – Team player who is able to work collaboratively and harmoniously within a team and across teams.  

Position Type

This is a part-time, non-exempt position with variable hours. Hours of work and days vary weekly and typically vary from 0 to 12-15 hours a week. Screenings will require evening and weekend work. We try to give as much notice for screening events as possible (typically the week prior). Call times are typically around 5:15pm during weekdays and around 9:00am during weekends, and shifts may last around 4-6 hours (sometimes more) depending on the length of the movie. After being trained in key job positions, you will perform a different staff assignment in coordination with the event team at each screening.

Compensation

In order to comply with equal pay and salary transparency laws in various locations, the compensation for this position is expected to be $17.90 per hour
